According to The Detroit News:
"Nearly 75,000 jobs were cut from the state's automotive sector between 2003 and 2007, according to the Michigan Department of Labor. Though no group keeps figures on the number of career-changers who go into franchising, franchisors around Metro Detroit report that they've gotten hundreds of inquiries from displaced auto workers."
